  1. Peace & Pandemic

Peace & Pandemic

Welcome to our digital exhibition - Peace and Pandemic exploring the peace movement's response to the covid-19 pandemic.

At the start of 2020, the world began to hear news of a new virus, and by March the World Health Organization officially declared the Covid-19 Pandemic. Since March the museum has been closed but the team have continued to work from home and felt it was important for the museum’s collection to document stories of the pandemic – and the Peace and Pandemic exhibition was born.

This exhibition is about recording the peace community’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic and bringing it together in one place. Whether its images, videos, facts, posters or online campaigns with hashtags, the peace community is still functioning and campaigning during lockdown. You can still make a difference from home.

Now more than ever it is important to feel hopeful and connected, and that is the aim of this exhibition.

Get involved!

Peace and Pandemic will be an ongoing and responsive exhibition and we’re looking for content relating to communities and campaigning during the pandemic.

If you have anything you’d like to contribute, from objects and artwork to photos and stories, just email us [email protected]

Feeling inspired?

We have teamed up with artist Marianne Matusz who has created some videos discussing aspects of the exhibition and setting some creative protest tasks you can do from home! Find them in each section. Don’t forget to share anything you create with us!

Marianne is a theatre artist and facilitator based in West Yorkshire. She has worked with a wide range of communities, charities, theatres and other cultural organisations to develop and deliver participatory projects.

The exhibition is made up of three strands, click on the blocks below to access the content for each section.

Bradford City of Sanctuary - Refugee Week 2022

At the end of last month, Bradford was announced as City of Culture 2025. This month, and this refugee week, we wanted to celebrate one of the things that makes the district so special, and such a unique cultural hub: its history as a City of Sanctuary.
