Please note that the Museum is located up some 60 steps and the building does not have a lift. The Museum is located down a small street. The door is situated opposite the City Vaults pub and has a sign to indicate you have arrived. Please press the buzzer on the left hand side of the door to gain access. The Museum is located on the second floor. If you require assistance please ask a member of staff or call ahead.

We apologise that our current premises are not accessible. The future aim for the next phase of the museum’s development is to find new, fully accessible premises that will allow us to display more of our collection of artefacts, and provide the office, storage and working space we need to continue our status as an Accredited Museum. Importantly this will also help achieve the aim to be an accessible, inclusive and diverse museum.

If you have any additional access needs, large print interpretation is available for exhibitions and staff are able to assist with a visit. If you have any additional requirements that you would like to discuss prior to your visit, please let us know and we will try our best to accommodate. You can ring us on 01274 780241 or email [email protected]

There is no safe provision for buggies or bicycles (there is a space downstairs but this is a shared space so is not secure). Please ask a member of staff if you require assistance in carrying anything up the stairs. A cloakroom is situated in the gallery where belongings can be stored at your own risk.
