The Peace Museum has launched a crowdfunding campaign to help build The Peace Museum of the Future. As part of the campaign 20 ambassadors have chosen an object from our collection to talk about its importance in the history of peace and why it is significant to them.

Eleanor Barrett and Rosie Freeman from local arts company The Brick Box have chosen the Greenham Common Banner designed by Thalia Campbell (Credit Thalia Campbell Designs).

“It’s glamourous, powerful and inclusive! It’s stridently female and, yes, that includes tents and wire cutters! The Greenham Common protests seem to have caught the imagination of many specifically because it was women making the stand, burning their anger as fuel and acting on behalf of future generations.

Being two women in positions of power and leadership, we get a real kick out of disrupting the corrosive systems of patriarchy and capitalism and we’re sure the women of Greenham Common did too. G’wan the lasses!”
