Challenging the Fabric of Society

March 1, 201712:46 pmSeptember 28, 2023 12:48 pm

Past Exhibition: November 2016 – March 2017

The Peace Museum holds a unique and varied textile collection, including handmade banners and quilts that have been used at some of the most important peaceful protests and demonstrations of the 20th and 21st centuries. The exhibition showcased these textiles across the galleries. With a vibrant mix of colour and handmade craftsmanship, the textiles brought the stories of peace campaigns and campaigners to life.

This exhibition was supported by a grant from The Textile Society and ran from November 2016 until March 2017.

To coincide with the Remembrance Day and the launch of the exhibition. The Museum held a series of school workshops and an adult learning event in collaboration with our partners, Bradford Libraries WWI Commemoration Reading Rug, you can see the Poppies children made as part of these school workshops still on display in the galleries.
