Current Vacancies

There are no current vacancies for staff at The Peace Museum.

Partnerships

The museum is currently closed to the public as we prepare to move premises. We are aiming to reopen our newly-developed galleries, and to start an exciting new events programme, in summer 2024. If you are interested in collaborating with the museum on an event or exhibition, click here.

Volunteering

The Peace Museum has a small team of dedicated staff and is supported by volunteers to allow us to continue our ambitious exhibitions and education programmes, however we are not currently accepting new volunteers until just prior to our reopening at Salts Mill in 2024.

You can read more about what volunteering roles will become available when we reopen in 2024 below. All roles are flexible and we are open to discussing with you what kinds of experience or tasks you are looking for. A usual day volunteering with us is between 10am till 4pm. Volunteers are usually on site one day a week but it could be more during busy periods. We can be flexible to accommodate your schedule.

Roles

General Museum Volunteer: Assist with opening to the public by being on reception, welcoming visitors, answering questions, overseeing the shop and donations, general housekeeping and any other tasks which can assist with the daily running of the museum. This is an ideal role for someone wanting to get some introductory experience into working in a museum, or for someone who is interested in peace and/or museums and is looking for a casual volunteer position.

Collections Volunteer: Working alongside our Curator, collections volunteers assist with caring for the collection. This includes cleaning and conservation work, documentation, working on the backlog and and other tasks that may be required. This is an ideal position for a student undertaking museum studies or similar, who is looking for specific museums collection experience. We will consider this role being done as a work placement alongside your studies.

Trustee: The Museum is looking to expand its board and welcome new trustees with specific experience. Further details can be found here.

Get in touch with the team if you would like to discuss volunteering or becoming a trustee by emailing us on [email protected] or calling 01274 780241.
