International Women’s Day – Breaking Boundaries Project

We’re making a brand-new banner for #IWD22, inspired by the banners at the Greenham Common Peace Camp. The banner will have 18 panels designed by members of the public and groups in and around Bradford.
We’re running two workshops at Bread & Roses Café in Bradford to give people a chance to make part of the banner. We’ll be there from 9.30am-12.30pm on the 8th and 12th of March, with everything needed to decorate one of the fabric squares with an inspirational figure – someone who’s breaking boundaries like the women at Greenham Common did.
If you can’t make it down for the workshops, don’t worry: get in touch with us and we can arrange for you to pick up a box another time. Also, if you’re part of a community group in Bradford who would be interested in doing a section together, we’d love to hear from you.
The packs will include instructions, information about the camp, and inspiration for decoration, as well as a range of materials to design your square with. All sections of the banner will need to be submitted by the 31st of March, so our team can work on putting them all together.
This project was made possible with funding from the City of Bradford Metropolitan City Council, and The National Lottery Heritage Fund for International Women’s Day 2022.
