TWENTY FOUR HOURS OF PEACE – Again!

One year ago our team were interviewed for TWENTY FOUR HOURS OF PEACE – a twenty-four-hour-long performance dedicated to the work of peace, featuring the words of 100 of today’s peacemakers. 

Created by author and director Neil Bartlett, TWENTY-FOUR HOURS OF PEACE was originally performed live on the stage of Manchester’s iconic Royal Exchange Theatre and simultaneously broadcast nationally on Resonance FM on Remembrance Sunday 2019.

This year, you can hear the entire show on Resonance FM, starting at 10:55am on Saturday November 7th and ending just after 11am on Sunday November 8th. The broadcast will end with two minutes of silence; as part of your Remembrance Sunday 2020, we invite you to join us.

Writer and Director Neil Bartlett travelled across the UK interviewing and recording a hundred people who are working for peace, including our Learning and Engagement Officer, Shannen Johnson and our Curator, Charlotte Hall. These interviews were then combined and read by performers from Manchester residents to acclaimed actors as part of an epic 24 hour long performance at The Royal Exchange Theatre. 

From an 84-year-old Greenham Common veteran to a young volunteer from a Syrian refugee camp – the impressive performance project was created to explore what ‘peace’ means to a contemporary society.
