We’re preparing to move premises!

Thanks to the support of the public, we’ve raised enough money to start looking for a new site to house our collections, exhibitions and educational work.

We want to say a huge thank you to everyone who contributed to our crowdfunding campaign last November, and everyone who has donated to the museum in recent times. It’s been a long-term goal of ours to move to a bigger and more suitable space, and we’re so excited that we finally have the opportunity to do so. The full new premises specifications are openly available here for anybody who wants to learn more about what we’re looking for.

Accessibility has been a key factor for us throughout this process so far, and it will continue to be as we search for new premises. As well as the current space not being large enough to house our growing collection and learning programme, it’s currently located up 60 steps with no lift access, making it inaccessible. We want to make sure that the work we do is accessible to all our visitors, and so we’ve made the decision not to reopen our current galleries as restrictions begin to ease.

Don’t worry though, we’re still working hard to bring you content online, and we’ve got some really wonderful announcements to share with you soon. We’re also going to be documenting parts of the moving process on our social media, so make sure you’re following us for updates!

The museum is an independent charitable organisation, and donations are more important than ever right now to ensure that the museum can meet its potential in its new home. We will be continuing to raise funds throughout the moving process, and are always grateful for donations of any size.

Thank you again to everybody who has supported us, and we look forward to sharing new digital content with you soon!
