British Textile Biennial: Banner Culture

We were thrilled to collaborate with British Textile Biennial for their mass banner exhibition Banner Culture. We loaned 26 banners from our collection to take part in the spectacular exhibition in Brierfield Mill, Lancashire. 

Presenting banner making in all its forms, from the dignified, traditional processional to impromptu DIY messages of dissent, banners were crowdsourced from heritage collections, campaign groups, artists and communities. The exhibition presented a kaleidoscopic view of a century of protest, belief and identity.
