Worst in Europe

The UK has been one of the worst affected countries in the world by the covid-19 virus and some have felt that the initiatives to bring people together, such as the weekly clap, have acted as a distraction from the worst of the crisis.

This artwork created by street art group Protest Stencil was placed on Thursday 21st May 2020 on a bus stop opposite the British Parliament where weekly clappings took place. The poster, ‘Worst in Europe’ was used a piece of peaceful protest art to highlight the British government’s record as the worst in Europe for covid-19 deaths.

The media and opposition politicians have failed to hold this government to account for its appalling record. In the war metaphors that the government seems so fond of, this has been a massacre, and there is blood on their hands.”   Ben from Protest Stencil
